Did anyone else notice that good ole Walter scored a first half hatrick against Real Madrid last night. Perhaps he might be worth signing :LMAO:

Only joking

I think Pandiani had proven himself long before he came to Birmingham City.

But not in the premiership, some players just are not suited to the premiership.

So they adapt, and the players around them adapt to help them adjust.
That is what they call coaching, they can teach that to people who want to be managers.

In the Premiership they play football, the same as they do in La Liga or Serie A.The players who take time to adjust are usually in a team with a rigid philosophy.
Look at the difference between a fluid Arsenal who rarely have a square peg in a round hole, and Chelsea who seem to do it every year.

Its the club style that causes problems not the "Premiership".

Pandiani would have been a revelation at Arsenal or Liverpool, where you have a team that can adjust and adapt.

So why did no other British based club come in for him ?

Because he wanted to go back to Spain - and he never really wanted to come here in the first place. If you remember he was supposed to go to Fiorentina but he claimed Deportivo delayed his registration on purpose, then when he came here he said: "I now find myself in the one place I never wanted to be."

bruce didnt know how to use him

what striker for this club hit the crossbar against manure at the their own ground and scored against chelsea & arsenal all in a 6 month period

sorry but he would of been a world class striker if bruce didnt use him as a target man or a left sided midfielder

Spot on - the Tilton Rifle was wasted here

Walter Panadiani has scored three for Espanyol against Real Madrid.

I'm now even more convinced we never used him properly.

Lets put a bit of perspective on this.

Walter has now scored 10 League goals this season including the 3 he scored on Saturday night. So he scored 7 in the rest of the season.

He was substituted with about half hour to go on Saturday night as he was dead on his feet!!

Heskey has a better record than that this season and I would not want to bring him back.

No thanks.

tim, the real perspective is this; he hasn't started many games so his record is pretty good - and he looked tired bacause he hasn't started many games. however, besides his 10 league goals i think he's scored 11 in the uefa cup and a couple in the copa del rey....not as good as heskey???? come on, get real man,,

I haven't followed his season, but he has been involved in over 30 odd games for Espanyol - so he must of had a lot of Sub apps.

Great record in Europe though.

I wasn't saying he was better than Emile though - just neither are players I'd want us to resign.

i'll accept that as your apology... :D

but i agree, we don't want him here because our "style" doesn't suit his. if you get the chance to see his goals against madrid, see what you think of them - i've rarely seen better counter-attacking, and his finishing is stunning.... **thumbup

No apologies with editing your post - but that about sums it up when it comes to continental players and BCFC.

Seems like another goalscorer has slipped thru' the net.....
He's spend a lot of time warming the Espanyol bench this season - but thy've such got their £1 mill worth!
19 minute hat-trick against Real Madrid at the week end.

Shame we let him go! :banghead:

Great player, arguably unsuited to the English game certainly totally unsuited to our style of play. The question should be why we ever signed him in the first place??
Sadly he never stood a chance with us so I think it was best all-round we got rid of him when we did.

Don't know if this will help any of you, but i posted this around the time we sold him.

Pandiani's playing time the season after he signed permanently, when he missed most of pre-season! As the saga was a long drawn out one.

Remember we sold Morrison just before the season, leaving Heskey, an unfit Pandiani, and a recovering Forssell as our strikers. So the first 3 games of the season were him gaining his fitness.

Fulham...........started for.....71 mins.
Man City.........started for.....90 mins.
Boro...............started for.....68 mins.
West Brom......on for Heskey, 27 mins on pitch as loan striker.
Charlton.........on for Heskey, 80 mins on pitch.
Portsmouth.....on for Pennant, 1 min on pitch.
Liverpool........on for Forssell, 19 mins on pitch - scored.
Arsenal..........started for.....55 mins.
viler...............started for.....45 mins.
Blackburn.......unused sub.
Everton..........on for Cunningham, 17 mins on pitch.
Newcastle.......on for Stan, 4 mins on pitch.
Sunderland.....on for Jarosik, 45 mins on pitch.
West Ham.......unused sub.
Fulham...........unused sub.
Man City.........started for.....73 mins.
Tottenham.......on for Pennant, 7 mins on pitch.
Man U.............on for Pennant, 15 mins on pitch. Scored
Chelsea...........started for.....90 mins.
Wigan..............on for Jarosik, 16 mins on pitch.

It really peeees me off at the striking talent we have had in the past that have gone on and proved themselves  :banghead:

La Liga 8 games 4 goals
Uefa Cup 12 games 11 goals

Another scapegoat who never had hes chance to shine !!!

he hasn't proved anything! he wasn't able to do it in the premiership and most probably wouldnt be able to come back to the premiership and do it again...it is a totally different game on the continent - plenty of players have done nothing here only to go to the continent and do it there...diego forlan perfect example....here at blues in the premiership he was !"£$ and thats it!

Anyone who can score against the likes of Man u and Real Madrid is a proven Top Striker

And Arsenal, Don't forget Arsenal. 2-1, 'Even Heskey Scored'
